Traveling chefs treat Jackson students to ‘Mongolian Grill’ style meals
JACKSON, MI - Students at two Jackson schools received a welcome interruption to their regularly-scheduled lunch periods this week. Travelling chef Tony Menk brought some new flavors to their lunchrooms in three separate visits between Wednesday and Friday, May 15-17. Menk - a regional chef for Taher, Inc., the district’s food service provider, treated students at Jackson High School and the Middle School at Parkside to a “Mongolian Grill”-style sauté he crafted himself.
Jazz-packed summer concert series returns to Jackson College
JACKSON, MI - Jackson College’s annual Summer Concert Series has grown in recent years to offer more free music to the Jackson County community. The series kicks off in 2024 with a performance of the Jackson French Quarter Traditional Jazz Band at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, on Potter Center’s back patio, 2111 Emmons Road. It feature traditional jazz music inspired by New Orleans, including classics like “When the Saints Go Marching In,” officials said.

JACKSON, MI -- The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption. Rufus is a 3-year-old Catahoula Leopard dog. He is house trained and friendly to everyone he meets. Rufus likes to take walks and is learning some basic commands. He came in with another dog, who has been adopted.
