Sunny and comfortable weather returns
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Rain showers have ended as the second cold front moved through overnight. Today, high pressure is going to be moving in leading to a very sunny day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s today which is fairly average for this time of year. We have also been dealing with sticky conditions due to dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s, but those are also lower which will make today feel even better. It will be a little on the breezy side at times this afternoon due to the change in pressure but that is expected to calm down in the evening. Winds are expected to be between 10 and 15 mph in the afternoon with some gusts around 20 mph. The high pressure is going to keep the dry weather around for the start of our weekend as highs sit around 80 degrees for both days.

PinPoint Yellow Alert Day: Chance for severe weather and localized flooding
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - After a calm past two days we could see severe weather today as a system passes to our north. The hot and sticky weather we have been seeing is due to a southerly flow. A cold front off to our west is going to bring in dry and cooler air tomorrow. Today, we will see storms move through in the evening as the cooler air starts to move in. The Storm Prediction Center has us under a marginal (1/5) risk for severe weather today as a result. The main threat will be damaging winds, but small hail. The rain showers we saw this morning helped to stabilize the atmosphere some causing the low threat for a tornado to be removed. We are also under a slight risk for excessive rainfall meaning that we could see heavy downpours leading to minor localized flooding in some areas. Some areas could see around an inch of rain or more depending on how these storms move. The models are still showing disagreement on the exact timing of the storms, but they will likely move through this evening. Highs are expected to reach the low 80s today, though that could vary a little depending on cloud coverage and the storms.
