There were many outstanding performances by Chequamegon, Prentice and Rib Lake athletes at the Abbotsford High School meet on April 29. Michalski wins 1600 meter at elite meet
Chequamegon senior Autumn Michalski won the women’s 1,600 meter run at the ‘Myrhum’ Invite at Arrowhead High School in Hartland on May 4. Michalski ran with a time of 4:54.98, outpacing Nora Gremban of Northland Pines who placed second with 4:56.59. Lily Kriegel of Whitefish Bay was third with 4:58.53, and Lilie Fouts of Xavier was fourth with 5:04.41. In all the race included 17 elite runners from around the state, according to Chequamegon Coach Mary Patterson. “No one wanted to lead the first lap making it a slower start, but Autumn progressively got faster and when she made her move no one could kick with her,” Patterson said. “It was a season-best time with Autumn looking so strong yet again!” Michalski competed in the one event. There were no other area athletes competing at the meet.
