Shortcake sales raise tens of thousands for Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington
Bloomington’s Annual Strawberry Shortcake Festival took place all day Thursday at Switchyard Park, with the desserts on sale until 8 p.m. unless they sell out sooner. . Organizers of the festival said mid-day that they’d already sold thousands of the cakes, which are topped with ice cream, strawberries, and whipped cream.

One World KitchenShare pop-up dinners are returning. These one-time dinners feature cuisine crafted by local chefs. They were happening monthly at the facility, 2361 W. Rappel Drive, until COVID-19 broke out a couple of years ago. The first chefs to share their fare with guests will be Clard and Tiffany Davidson, owners of Chef's Table Catering. Free indie rock, pop and folk acts coming to Switchyard Park June 20 and July 18
With performances from Y La Bamba and Tune-Yards, Switchyard Park will debut the first installment of its Thursday Night Summer Music Series at 6:30 p.m. June 20. In collaboration with Visit Bloomington, Switchyard Park will host concerts featuring world-class touring artists on the park’s main stage. The outdoor, evening concerts are free for all to attend. In addition to the live music, a variety of food trucks and adult beverage vendors will be on site for concertgoers to purchase refreshments.

The death has been reported of Kevork Mardirossian, professor of violin at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music since 2008. Dear friends, loves, I write to share what many have already heard… with heaviest heart, trembling hands, a heart that’s impossible to calm, I mention that my beautiful, beloved boy, Kevork Mardirossian, seen in a dream and gifted to me for almost 40 years in this world by the universe, has passed June 11, some time mid afternoon. My Kevuchka had struggled since December with physical and mental health issues, failed by the mental health system, and finally his beautiful, now thin ( perfect!) little body and sensitive, powerful mind could take no more. I was with him, supporting his cool body and head with adrenaline and love, tasted his sweet mouth one last time trying to breathe life back into him…I was so fortunate to be free to be with him these months of struggle, and calm, and domestic loving moments, and many many many doc appointments … I told him, Baby, we always get through everything together, all this is no different! He was concerned that I was exhausted, typically selfless, but I would not change a moment, except for going up for my daily covid nap and not being with him at the terrible moment when he departed…
