MSD names new coach
MARTINSVILLE — The MSD of Martinsville, pending formal board approval on May 16, will hire J.B. Neill as head boys basketball coach at Martinsville High School. J.B. Neill, a collegiate player at Longwood University, is a 25-year veteran in education with stops at Eastern Greene, Shakamak, White River Valley, Edgewood and Bloomfield.
Fun at the Martinsville Ag Fair
The president of the Martinsville Ag Fair Board, Bob Zellers, joined Julie in the studio to talk about the activities planned for this year’s Ag Fair. It all kicks off on Sunday, May 26 with community worship, and the fair wrapp up with a family fun day on June 2, meaning there is a full week of fun for everyone to enjoy. There are free carnival rides with gate admission starting on Wednesday, May 29.
Hey, I wrote a book!
Have you ever wanted to write a book? I thought about it for years but never did. Then in 2018, I was privileged to offer columns for the Martinsville newspaper on the Opinion page. I was allowed to write anything that came to my mind. Many of the stories involved growing up on the family farm near Paragon with my two brothers and three sisters.
Bloomington city council OK’s proposal for 4,200 new homes, with conditions
The Bloomington City Council is allowing developers to build up to 4,250 homes on a piece of undeveloped land on the city’s southwest side. The council on Wednesday approved Sudbury Developer Partner’s request for a rezone of 138.51 acres north of RCA Community Park to a Planned Unit Development. The vote was 7-2, with council members Dave Rollo and Andy Ruff voting against it.
