PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. ( WMBB ) — Motorcycle enthusiasts from all across the country are in Panama City Beach for the first day of the Spring Thunder Beach Rally.

With lots of vendors, there’s something here for just about every motorcycle enthusiast.

The smell of exhaust and the sound of revving engines can only mean one thing.

Thunder Beach Spring 2024 is officially underway.

The 26th annual spring rally began Wednesday and runs through Sunday, May 5th.

“It’s an opportunity for people to enjoy themselves, have fun, stay up late, get to ride the bike around and check out other bikes, see people they haven’t seen for a long time.”

There are three main beach venues located at Frank Brown Park, ‘The Crossroads’ near Sharkey’s, and the Harley Davidson store.

More than 200 vendors are scattered over the three sites, selling motorcycle parts and accessories, clothing, and food and drinks.

Even though it’s only the first day, people seem to be enjoying everything Thunder Beach has to offer.

Many are new to the event.

“We came down on Tuesday, so we’ll be here all week. We always wanted to come to this rally. We go to a lot of rallies. We always wanted to come to Thunder Beach.”

    The Shelby’s drove from Arkansas.

They plan to camp and buy new parts for their bikes.

“Wolves in four baby let’s go, Minnesota.”

This Minnesota couple, in Daytona for a Jeep event, heard about Thunder Beach from a friend who is a vendor.

“Mainly what brought us was tab performance here. Came to see our buddy from back home.”

Abraham and Sanquist say they love their jeep, but this might convince them to buy a motorcycle.

This year’s Thunder Beach also has its share of regulars.

“Been doing Thunder Beach since they started Thunder Beach. Way back in the early 2000s. Almost 24-year participant.  I think it’s going to be a good rally. Good weather. A little bit shy about the music. We lost some of the music talent, which they should have probably brought in. But I think the people out here are ready to spend some money and have a good time.”

Moriarty said he’s also looking forward to the Gulf Coast Salute air show on Saturday and Sunday.
