Tesla sued over air pollution from Fremont factory operations
Tesla is accused of violating federal air standards at its Fremont factory, according to a lawsuit filed by an East Bay nonprofit. Oakland-based Environmental Democracy Project claims Tesla is hurting the environment in Fremont by violating the Clean Air Act. A complaint filed by the group said "Tesla has exposed residents and workers in the area surrounding the Fremont factory to excess amounts of air pollution, including nitrogen oxides, arsenic, cadmium, and other harmful chemicals."

California to make $3.3 billion available for mental health, substance use treatment centers. Hammered by mounting pressure to address the growing homelessness crisis in California, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday his administration will make $3.3 billion available ahead of schedule for counties and private developers to start building more behavioral health treatment centers as part of his efforts to fund housing and drug use programs.
American diner Jack’s Prime is relocating and reopening as Maverick Jack’s San Mateo
After 15 years in San Mateo, modern American diner Jack’s Prime is moving – just down the street to The Villa. The new location of Jack’s Prime, formerly Polynesian restaurant Tokemoana’s, will be renamed Maverick Jack’s San Mateo and will keep its menu (think burgers, fries, salads and sundaes) and ambiance (modernized retro ‘50s) while introducing 30% more capacity for parking. Owner Micheál Mallie closed Jack’s Prime Feb. 25 and decided to relocate it after lease negotiations fell through. He hopes to open Maverick Jack’s San Mateo on May 23, pending inspections.
