YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A duo is wanted by police in York County for using a fraudulent auction business to steal more than $100,000 worth of antiques.

Christina Taylor, 59, of Palmyra, and Thomas Taylor, 66, of Waynesboro, who went by “Collectors Auction Company, LLC” in Palmyra were contacted by someone to collect antiques, worth between $100,00 and $200,00, and auction them off, Newberry Township Police said in the charging documents.

Police said there was an agreement for the Taylors to get rare coins, antique firearms and valuables from Newberry Township and take them to an auction house in Harrisburg.

The first reported auction, which was done in July, garnered $17,503, police said, and a letter from the business in September said the commission cleared for $14,877.55. A check was written by Christina who hand-delivered it and said to wait to cash it because the bidders didn’t pay yet.

Days after the check was chased it came back as fraudulent by the Federal Reserve and the money was taken out of the victim’s account, the charging documents show.

When reached out to about the fake check, Thomas reportedly refused to honor the check or return the items. Police said when they talked to Thomas he stated the check was altered and he had secret service connections investigating however he could not back up the claim.

According to police, Thomas was arrested in 2022 for allegedly running the same fraud at the same company. Police alleged he has a history of deceptive business dealings and found nothing at the business address.

The duo face numerous felony charges of theft, deceptive or fraudulent business practices, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the Taylor’s should call Newberry Township Police at (717) 938-2608.
