    OPD finds guns, drugs, $12K following disturbance call

    HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A convicted felon has been arrested following a disturbance call in Owensboro.

    Owensboro Police state on May 1, at about 7:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to Surrey Drive for a domestic disturbance. Police say they later located Cameron Jackson, 24, and charged him with 4th-degree assault (domestic violence).

    Officials say further investigation led to the discovery of $12,000 in cash, a loaded handgun, a large amount of suspected fentanyl pills, and other evidence of narcotics trafficking. Jackson was also charged with trafficking-controlled substance, possession and aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance.

    Officials say OPD Street Crimes Unit furthered their investigation by obtaining a search warrant for Jackson’s residence. During the warrant, OPD says detectives seized approximately two pounds of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and other evidence of narcotics trafficking. Officials also state a handgun, two rifles and a shotgun were found inside the residence.

    As a result, Jackson was charged with 1st degree trafficking controlled substance, possession of handgun by convicted felon, possession of firearm by convicted felon, drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

    Jackson was previously convicted of 2nd degree manslaughter , tampering with physical evidence, receiving stolen property, trafficking in marijuana and possession of controlled substances.
