OLATHE, Kan. — One of three suspected shoplifters accused of leading police on a high-speed chase, ending in a deadly crash in Overland Park last year, has pleaded guilty .

According to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office, Shyanne Brina Canady pleaded guilty on Thursday to aggravated battery and reckless second-degree murder.

Canady and two other suspects ran from police in a high-speed chase after being caught stealing at TJ Maxx in Overland Park on Nov. 27, 2023.

A second suspect, Inez Easley, faces felony counts for identify theft, inference with law enforcement, theft of less than $25,000 and two counts of misdemeanor theft.

FOX4 looked into Easley’s background and found police in Jackson, Platte and Clay counties all charged her with stealing or strong armed robbery in March, April and May.

The third suspect in the incident was killed in a crash shortly after the chase.

FOX4 spoke with a victim in the crash last November . Christine Cecchini was left with a broken wrist after the three suspects in a Black Acura ran a red light.

The crash happened in front of the same Overland Park shopping center where another large-scale shoplifting took place earlier that month.

Canady is scheduled to be sentenced on June 12.
