CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A local veteran who died while serving in Vietnam is being honored for making the ultimate sacrifice.

A bridge that goes over Moshannon Creek in Osceola Mills in Clearfield County was renamed Friday to the Lance Corporal Michael P. Segich Memorial Bridge. The Osceola Mills native and marine was killed in 1970 when he was just 18 years old when another marine accidentally fired his rifle at him.

“We pray that his death was not in vain and that all of our fallen heroes and veterans will feel our pride in their bravery and commitment to protect and defend our country,” Osceola Mills VFW Post 5020 Chaplain Floyd Hauth said.
