Hanover Historical Society visits Hanover Elementary School
Fourth graders at Hanover Elementary School were treated to a personal history lesson on May 29 in conjunction with their local history curriculum. Mary Coons and Bob Miller of the Hanover Historical Society presented an interactive presentation to the students. Three major areas were discussed — a video of the founding of Hanover/historic bridge, Hanover’s country school and class routine and “Who’s Farm Do You Live On?,” which is a plat map of former farmland with an overlay of current housing developments. Students saw text books from the late 1800s, a school bell, clothes and other artifacts. The teachers enjoyed looking at the 1925 school year lesson plan books for educators. This is an annual visit as part of the historical society’s outreach and education.
