Ormond Beach, FL - An Ormond Beach woman faces assault, burglary, and child abuse charges after allegedly trying to stab her ex-husband at his home following a strange incident where she called police about a nightmare involving gunfire.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Melinda Gould, 40, called 911 early on April 26th requesting a wellness check on her ex-husband's residence, claiming a nightmare about gunfire where her children were staying.
Arriving deputies found nothing amiss, and when calling Gould back for an update, received verbal abuse.
Less than an hour later, deputies responded to the same address after Gould's ex-husband reported her breaking in and attempting to stab him with a filet knife while they were sleeping.
Gould's vehicle was parked outside, and she was found being restrained by her ex-husband inside the residence.
The couple's three children were present but unharmed.
Investigators determined that after being assured of her ex-husband's home's safety, Gould attempted to purchase a gun from a neighbor with the intent to harm him.
Unsuccessful, she allegedly went to the residence armed with a kitchen knife.
Gould faces multiple charges including aggravated assault, armed burglary, and child abuse due to the emotional trauma caused to the children.
She was also arrested for trespassing, having been previously warned to stay away from the property in October 2022.
Gould's troubles continued in custody. Two days after her arrest, she allegedly became involved in a physical altercation with another inmate, damaging a jail tablet and throwing it at them. An additional battery charge was added.
Gould has a history of arrests in Flagler County, including prior trespass and battery charges.
