UNION, S.C. (WSPA) – A Florida man is accused of stealing electricity in the Upstate.

According to the Union Police Department, officers responded Thursday about a complaint called into city hall for theft of electric current.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they found the meter lock had been cut and wiring installed to bypass the meter. An electric crew came in as well to check.

While on the scene, officers found the leasee Brian Allen McPherson, of Ormond Beach, Florida.

McPherson told officers that his helper had been there working while he had been out of town.

He was then arrested and charged with two counts of theft of electric current.

He is currently being held in the Union County Detention Center on a $2,185 bond.
