PORTLAND, Ore. — Police are investigating after a newborn baby was found dead in North Portland's Kenton neighborhood on Friday morning. The Portland Police Bureau said that officers responded around 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a dead infant near North Fenwick Avenue and North Argyle Street, an area tucked between Interstate 5, North Interstate Avenue and North Columbia Boulevard.

Man sentenced to life in prison for deadly Portland bar stabbing
PORTLAND, Ore. — A judge sentenced a man on Friday to life in prison for murdering a Portland restaurant server at a bar last summer. On July 2, 2023, Rahnique Jackson stabbed and killed 32-year-old Colin Smith near Southwest 12th Avenue and Madison Street in Southeast Portland. Smith had gotten off work at Ox Restaurant and went to a bar with friends, according to a family friend. The group was harassed by a man who used homophobic slurs, according to the family friend. Someone in the group was a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and Smith had stood up for that person, the family friend said.
Iconic Portland Drag Club Darcelle XV Is at Risk of Closing
The Oregonian reports that Darcelle XV Showplace, a beloved, longstanding Portland drag club, is at risk of shutting down due to poor attendance during its usual peak season. One of the co-hosts and performers at Darcelle XV, Kevin Cook, who performs under the name Poison Waters, told the publication that summer is often the busiest time of year for the club, but that this season has been an outlier. Greenburg Road on-ramp to northbound Highway 217 to close for a week
Starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 29, the Greenburg Road on-ramp to northbound OR 217 will close for a week until 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 5. During this closure, Oregon Department of Transportation crews will reconfigure the ramp to ensure it connects to the new, future auxiliary lane. The auxiliary lane is expected to reduce congestion when it opens in 2025 by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. The suggested detour route is to take the Greenburg Road on-ramp to head southbound on OR 217 and use the OR 99W interchange to return to northbound OR 217.
