Deputies identify victim of apparent hit-and-run
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced that they have identified the body found in Lake Charles on Thursday, May 30. Spokeswoman Kayla Vincent says deputies were dispatched to the area of Goodman Road and Opelousas Street in Lake Charles around 4:15 p.m. yesterday, after receiving a call about a body being found on the side of the road.
VIDEO: Historic railroad bridge reopens
WESTLAKE, La. (KPLC) - The railroad trestle just north of the I-10 Bridge over the Calcasieu River near Westlake reopened Saturday night, according to officials. This bridge features a 1907 swing truss span, but other spans on this bridge date to 1966. The main span length is 225 feet and at its widest is 590 feet.

2,400 meals served to Calcasieu children on first day of summer food program
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Hundreds of children enjoyed their first free meals of the summer in Calcasieu Parish today. The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and City of Lake Charles’ summer feeding program offers free breakfast and lunch to those 18 and under through July 26. Food is served every weekday except holidays.
