Five high schools in Cuyahoga County will soon be powered, in part, by solar energy
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Five Cuyahoga County school districts will soon get a share of their energy needs from the sun. The county’s Solar for Schools program will provide $100,000 each to school systems in East Cleveland, Maple Heights, Euclid, Cuyahoga Heights and one other district yet to be named.
Yeshiva High School of Cleveland celebrates Lag b’Omer
The rain held off long enough for the Yeshiva High School of Cleveland’s Lag B’Omer celebration to conclude with the lighting of a bonfire, dancing and singing on May 26. Held in the parking lot of the school on Fairmount Boulevard in Beachwood, attendees enjoyed face painting, inflatables, crafts, pony rides, food and a magic show by Jeff Reid of Painesville who works for Flower Clown Entertainment in Willoughby.

The scouting book on the University lacrosse team suggests playing a zone. Maybe you can slow ’em down that way. Welp, apparently that doesn’t work, either. Paced by its fast-paced offense, which is ignited by the dominating face-off abilities of Julian Guirguis, top-seeded University trounced fifth-seeded Kenston, 19-3, in a Division II regional semifinal on May 28 at Scovil Field.

Lakeland Foundation receives $400K anonymous gift
The Lakeland Foundation received an anonymous gift of $400,000 to support Lakeland Community College’s Margaret Zelina Nursing LPN to RN Assistance Fund. The fund was established in 2021 to support licensed practical nurse students as they work to become registered nurses in the final two semesters of the nursing program at the college, according to a news release.
