Authorities say a suspect is in custody in connection to a bomb threat investigation Friday afternoon in Orange County.

News 12 was first alerted by commuters and residents around 12:30 p.m. that there was a large police presence at the Pine Hollow Commons in the Village of Chester.

Authorities say they immediately launched an investigation.

Rockland County Bomb Squad reported to the scene among other agencies.

The Sheriff's Office says a person is in custody following a mental health emergency that unfolded at the complex.

They say a suspicious device was also found at the scene, which prompted the police response.

The Town of Chester police says they deployed an K-9 unit, trained in explosives to the scene.

Authorities say they evacuated some of the people who live in the units out of concerns that there could be a live explosive.

The town supervisor, who lives in one of the units, told News 12 he was temporarily displaced as of Frinday afternoon.

It was not immediately clear if any charges will be filed.
