San Bernardino senior set to attend Harvard after 30+ college acceptances
Inland Empire senior Silvana Vasquez is heading to Harvard in the fall with a full-ride scholarship after getting accepted to more than 30 universities. The San Gorgonio High valedictorian says she wants to study politics with the goal of making her family proud and advocating for underserved communities, including her hometown.
Riverside schools to feed kids for free this summer
Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is out for the Summer. For many parents, that means 30 more hours a week of kids needing to eat and be entertained. RUSD and the City Parks department have teamed up to provide lunch, at no cost, for anyone under 18 at several parks and libraries; no qualification is necessary. The service is available on weekdays from June 3 through August 2.
First Baptist nursery school says goodbye
After 60 years of service, First Baptist Church of Claremont’s nursery school will close on Friday, May 31. The school was founded in 1964 by Edith Fagg. Janet Hodges served as director after Fagg’s 1974 retirement. Suzanne Duron then took the position following Hodges retirement in the late 2010s.
