CHP: Tesla Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Cal-Trans Vehicle On I-5
A driver and a juvenile passenger were seriously injured when a Tesla crashed into a parked Cal-Trans truck. The collision happened a little after Midnight Monday night on Northbound Interstate 5 at Fawndale. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and child endangerment. It’s not known if the Tesla autopilot function was being used at the time.
Crews begin work to repair sinkholes in Redding
REDDING, Calif. - Crews are at work repairing sinkholes in Redding along Eastside Road between Whitehouse Drive and River Ranch Road, just south of the Haven Humane Society. The work will continue for 10 days as crews will be replacing the existing culvert that is currently failing. There are sinkholes along both sides of Eastside Road, causing a major safety hazard.

Winter weather impacting construction and road projects in Shasta County
REDDING. Calif. — Redding Public Works Street Supervisor, Carl Buchanan told KRCR that these storms significantly impact the road work in town. “The weather impacts roadway repairs of course because we have to use what's called a cold mix during the rainy season because we can't get a hot mix this time of year to make a permanent patch on the road so it affects how we can do the permanent patch.” Buchanan continued, “it affects how we can do our sidewalk repairs because you can't pour cement when it's raining so weather affects us a lot when it comes to priority like our roads and sidewalks.”

Grab your umbrella, get your tire chains handy if you're in our higher elevations, and make sure to give yourself plenty of extra time to get where you need to go before you head out the door Tuesday. A trough of low pressure off the coast of northern California and Oregon is driving a substantial moisture plume over northern California today. This will leave our region with heavy valley rain, heavy mountain snow, and gusty southeast winds through your entire Tuesday. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect in the northern Sierra above 3000' through 8pm Wednesday due to the potential for up to 4' of snow in that area through Wednesday night. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect in the Shasta County Mountains through 11am Wednesday due to heavy snow, and an additional Winter Storm Warning is in effect in Trinity County above 2000' through 2pm Tuesday due to the potential for up to 20 inches of snowfall. A Wind Advisory is in effect in the valley through 5pm Tuesday due to sustained winds up to 30mph, and gusts in the 40mph to 50mph range being possible through the day. Modoc County will be under a Wind Advisory through 2pm Tuesday due to the potential for gusts up to 60mph out of the south. Gusty winds will also be likely in our mountain zones and could result in whiteout conditions when paired with the heavy snowfall through the day on Tuesday. The strongest winds are projected from late morning through early Tuesday evening. Temperatures are starting out in the 40's in the valley, 30's to 40's in the foothills, and 20's to 30's in our mountain zones early Tuesday. Winds will be gusty out of the south and we'll have moderate to heavy rain and snow through the day. The heaviest rain will be in store through early to mid afternoon in the valley, and snow will become heavier towards the afternoon in the Sierra. High temperatures are projected to range from the upper 40's to lower 50's in the valley, 30's to mid 40's in the foothills, and 30's to low 40's in our mountain zones Tuesday afternoon.
