OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — Three people are in custody after police responded to a child welfare call. Oklahoma City Police described the home where the children were found as filthy.

The children were all placed into the care of another family member.

“Deplorable conditions, really conditions unimaginable. There was some health concern for inside the home,” said LT. Dillon Quirk with Oklahoma City Police.

The police report explains Anesha Range went to someone’s home on Saturday saying she couldn’t find one of the kids.

“One of the children were found wandering the area without some shoes on. A concerned person called police,” said Quirk.

When officers got to the home, the report said the home smelled like “mold and old food.” The children’s room had trash everywhere. Police said the bathroom had water on the floor and in the sink.

Neighbors told News 4 off camera that sometimes the kids would run to their yard asking for food.

The police report said the Department of Human Services had a prior incident at the home a year ago. Oklahoma City Police confirmed in the last year, they’ve had five calls to the home.

Anesha Range, Mathew Brown, and Haley McCormick were found responsible for the kids in the home and were arrested for child neglect.

“We want to make sure that there’s running water inside the home, that the living conditions are acceptable for for anyone to live in, really,” said Quirk.

DHS sent a statement to News 4:

Oklahoma Human Services is committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of Oklahoma’s children. Every child welfare case is different and the specific details in those cases impact decisions made by the agency, courts, district attorneys and others who participate in any case.
