    Several Oklahoma City Public Schools Met OSDE Exit Criteria for School Improvement Status, exiting Superintendent McDaniel reports

    Oklahoma City - Dr. Sean McDaniel of the Oklahoma City Public Schools system (OKCPS) announced this week announce that several of city schools had met Oklahoma State Department of Education’s (OSDE) exit criteria from School Improvement (SI) status.

    With collaborative efforts from students, educators, administrators, families and the community, the following schools have demonstrated substantial improvements. According to a memo released by OSDE, the following OKCPS schools have met exit criteria:

    John Quincy Adams Elementary School

    Chester Arthur Elementary School

    Bodine Elementary School

    Britton Elementary School

    Cesar Chavez Elementary School

    Calvin Coolidge Elementary School

    Frederick A. Douglass High School

    Millard Millard Fillmore Elementary School

    Heronville Elementary School

    Hillcrest Elementary School

    James Monroe Elementary School

    Prairie Queen Elementary School

    Rockwood Elementary School

    Theodore Roosevelt Middle School

    U.S. Grant High School

    Wheeler Middle School

    According to a press release sent to CityNewsOKC.com, the Oklahoma City Public Schools have "prioritized an environment conducive to personal growth and academic success. Through targeted interventions, innovative teaching methodologies, and unwavering support systems, the district has empowered its schools to overcome obstacles and reach new heights of achievement."

    Superintendent Dr. Sean McDaniel, who is leaving the position later this year, said in the press release, "This remarkable achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our students and educators, as well as the steadfast support of our community.

    "It underscores our collective commitment to providing every student with the individualized resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive."

    The system said, in a press release, it "has prioritized an environment conducive to personal growth and academic success. Through targeted interventions, innovative teaching methodologies, and unwavering support systems, the district has empowered its schools to overcome obstacles and reach new heights of achievement.”

    Moving forward, the city public schools district said the system "remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring equitable access to high-quality education for all students. The district looks forward to building upon this success and furthering its mission of empowering every student to reach their full potential."

    Earlier this year, Dr. McDaniel announced he would leave the position after six years at the helm.
