Outerbridge Crossing: Results of Port Authority study on widening the 99-year-old bridge to be released in 2025
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A study looking at widening the Outerbridge Crossing is halfway done, and results will be made public in 2025, according to the Port Authority. Legislation introduced by State Sen. Andrew Lanza and signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul in 2021 required the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) to examine the possibility of widening the Outerbridge, which is Staten Island’s narrowest bridge.
