Victoria College President supports expanded in-person presence at Texas A&M University-Victoria
VICTORIA, Texas — Victoria College President Jennifer Kent is expressing support for Texas A&M University-Victoria's new policy requiring faculty members to spend more time on campus. Kent said expanding in-person opportunities could have a significant impact on local students seeking to transition from an associate degree to a bachelor's degree. According to Kent, many students want to remain close to their jobs, families and community while continuing their education. However, limited face-to-face program options have sometimes forced students to leave Victoria or put their educational goals on hold. Kent said increasing the university's on-campus presence could help create a more seamless pathway for students pursuing higher education in the Crossroads. She described a vision in which students move from local high schools to Victoria College, then continue their studies at Texas A&M University-Victoria before entering careers throughout the Golden Crescent. Kent said strengthening that educational pipeline could provide students with more opportunities to earn degrees locally while supporting the region's workforce needs.
