IGHSAU Class 2A and 3A High School Girl’s Soccer Final Rankings
(West Des Moines, IA) – The IGHSAU has released its final week of the Class 2A and Class 3A high school girl’s soccer rankings. These rankings are compiled by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Local teams in Class 2A feature North Polk at #1 at 15-1, ADM ranks at #10 at 8-7 on the season, and Lewis Central at #13 with a 9-8 overall record. You can find all the results below.
Tonight’s ‘silent’ ride remembers cyclists killed, hurt in crashes
Dozens of bicycle riders will gather early this evening in downtown Des Moines for what’s billed as the Ride of Silence. Bike Iowa founder Scott Sumpter says the somber event is designed to raise awareness about the cyclists who have been killed or injured on Iowa’s public roadways in the past year. Sumpter says they’ll emphasize the need for greater awareness and respect for cyclists.

Van Meter track sends 25 to state, baseball wins opener
The summer season is right around the corner, but first, Van Meter looks for some spring championships. (Note: Events covered May 7-13) The defending Class 2A champion, Van Meter walks back into Drake Stadium with a crew looking to add another trophy to the case. With 19 qualifiers to its name, the Bulldogs have plenty of depth to make some noise again. Last year’s team was led by three championship events and a state record time. This year will take some heavy lifting to get those big chunks again, but not outside of the possibilities.
