NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – While many Americans have planned trips this Memorial Day weekend, others are choosing to celebrate locally.

Memorial Day 2024 observances in western Massachusetts

In the wake of a record-breaking Memorial Travel weekend, with 44 million people on the move, others find they have all the festivities they need locally to make their weekend one they’ll never forget.

Agawam resident, Cecelia Dutton told 22News her reason for spending most of the weekend with her family at the Oxbow Marina in Northampton, “We have a lot of time on the water. We really like the marina. The marina treats us well, and this is a great place because it’s off the river, so it’s calmer.”

Dutton also said she and her family have enjoyed the marina for the last seven years.
