NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP)– Drivers in Northampton should expect delays over the next two weeks when road construction begins Monday, May 6.

Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) road crews will be conducting paving operations on Damon Road and Bridge Street in Northampton starting on Monday, May 6 and continue on weekdays through Friday, May 24, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

Construction begins for traffic circle on Elm Street in West Springfield

Work will take place on Damon Road from the railroad crossing to the King Street / North King Street (Route 5 and Route 10) intersection, and work will take place on Bridge Street from 100 feet west of the Hampshire Heights entrance to the King Street / North King Street intersection. Route 5 and Route 10 will not be impacted by the paving operations.

Drivers should expect delays and may want to consider alternate routes during work hours.

The work is weather dependent. Signs directing drivers and law enforcement details will be in place to guide drivers.
