Students wrap up school year as Newton community storm cleanup
NEWTON, Kan. (KWCH) - Crews with the City of Newton were out early Wednesday morning in a cleanup effort that included picking up tree limbs strewn across yards and streets. One of the hardest-hit areas in town Sunday night was Chisholm Middle School. Principal Joey Menninga said part of the school’s roof “had kind of peeled away” and caused some water to drip into a classroom. There was also an air conditioning and heating unit that Menninga said, was “flipped over.”

HARVEY COUNTY — The U.S. National Weather Service – Wichita office is in Harvey County today to assess storm damage and determine the classifications of the storm. As of 10 a.m., Evergy reported about 3,100 customers affected in the county. Butler Electric reported 27 outages in Harvey County.
