Barnstable bridge lane closures begin Oct. 13 for multi-phase project
The beginning of a multi-phase rehabilitation project on Oyster Harbors Bridge in Osterville will cause some delays this week through Oct. 16, according to a Barnstable Public Works Department notice. During this phase of the project beginning Oct. 13, contractor Cora Corporation will construct scaffolding beneath the bridge that will be used throughout the rehabilitation work, causing one lane of the bridge to be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, weather permitting. Alternating traffic will be maintained through the remaining lane and boat access will be unaffected, the notice said. Residential and emergency access will be maintained. Motorists are advised to follow posted signs and instructions from on-site traffic control personnel, use caution and allow additional travel time when traveling through the work area. This project will make critical repairs to the bridge including structural, mechanical and electrical upgrades, which are necessary to maintain the bridge’s function, the department notice said. The project remains on schedule for completion by May 1, 2027. Contact the Barnstable Department of Public Works at 508-790-6400 for any questions.
