Special summer program introduces students to construction careers
North Tech High School offers a Building Trades Academy to expose students to careers in construction, with partnerships from trade unions, the Construction Career Development Initiative and Clayco, and the program has seen a surge in young people considering pathways in construction.

Molly Sallaberry wants to deliver way more than the same old song and dance. The St. Joseph’s Academy sophomore is passionate about musical theater, especially singing. She took home top prize at the 2024 Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation Teen Talent Competition. Her performance of “Kindergarten Love Song” not only won the $8,000 first place scholarship, but also earned her the Audience Choice Award.
Parkway superintendent announces retirement after 2024-25 school year
After 14 years as Parkway’s superintendent, Dr. Keith Marty has announced his intent to retire after the 2024-25 school year. "Working as Parkway’s superintendent for 14 years has brought me tremendous joy," Marty said. "There isn’t anywhere else I would rather be. I feel as optimistic as I’ve ever been about Parkway as we look ahead to next school year and begin implementing our five-year strategic plan that provides strategies for student success in school and life, and the resources to support them."
Aviation Summer Academy inspires futures in aviation as students take to the sky
High school seniors from eight states learned about airmanship, aviation through hands-on experiences in the classroom and in the air. Saint Louis University’s (SLU) Oliver L. Parks Department of Aviation hosted its annual Aviation Summer Academy the week of June 10, connecting students to the world of aviation and the exciting careers within it. More than 20 high school seniors from eight states gathered at SLU’s hangar at St. Louis Downtown Airport to kick things off and explore the aviation industry both in and out of the classroom. They learned flight basics using high-tech simulators, heard from guest speakers about flight careers, and stepped into the cockpit of different aircraft to gain hands-on experience, while also experiencing the thrill of flight.
