DeWitt County man pleads guilty to multi-million dollar fraud scheme related to East Peoria business
PEORIA (25News Now) - A Farmer City man pleaded guilty to six felony charges related to a scheme to defaulted boat owners and banks that financed his business. Jeffrey D. Gibbs, 58, and co-defendant Kara M. Wilkey, 49, of Maroa, were both indicted in December 2020, with multiple counts of wire fraud, bank fraud, mail fraud and aggravated identity theft, according to a Department of Justice release.

GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas — The numbers tell a tale of heartbreak. Guadalupe County officials have completed their initial assessment of damage from last Thursday's storm. According to Patrick Pinder, the county's emergency management coordinator, 136 homes were reported to be damaged. Of those, 24 homes had major damage or were destroyed, while 31 homes suffered minor damage and 81 were listed as "affected."

Feds get guilty plea in Dewitt County boat fraud case
A 58-year-old Farmer City man has pleaded guilty to swindling boat owners and banks out of about $4.7 million. Federal prosecutors said Jeffrey Gibbs used a DeWitt County boat dealership to take out bank loans on fake boats and false transactions, used forged signatures, sold boats on behalf of owners and then didn’t pay the owners or the taxes and title fees due to the state after collecting them.
