    Kennedy Catholic state champions presented donation check from Cafaro Foundation

    NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The Kennedy Catholic girls basketball team was honored in Niles on Tuesday for their win in the PIAA State Championship game .

    “For them to celebrate our success, it means so much to us,” says Kennedy Catholic head coach Justin Magestro. “That’s part of what we talk about year to year, this being the final touch.”

    Today’s ‘Champions Rally’ marks the second straight year that the Golden Eagles were celebrated at the Eastwood Mall for their back-to-back state titles.

    The school was also presented with a check for $10,000 by the Cafaro Foundation.

    “It means so much to us,” added Magestro. “It just gives you hope that there’s so many good people still in our in our world.”

    “It’s always a great experience,” says Kennedy Catholic junior Layke Fields. “I love this and I thank everybody for supporting us and seeing how good we are.”
