Athens Academy's Austin McGee has notched the 200-meter dash record for GHSA Class 2A, shattering a 40-year run by the previous holder. The senior clocked a time of 21.38 seconds on Saturday afternoon in Commerce at the GHSA track and field state championships to take gold for the Spartans. He beat the second-place runner by a mere .05 seconds. The previous 2A state record was 21.40, set by Olympian Antonio McKay of Roosevelt High in 1982 — the school closed in 1985.
