Town of Newton is Hiring - Summer Supervisor Position Open

NEWTON, NJ – Town officials are looking for a seasonal Assistant Pool Manager.  It is a supervisory position that will require working weekends on a rotational basis.

• Be Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid Certified - Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor (a plus).
• Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written as well as strong customer service focus
• Have excellent organizational and problem solving skills
• Have the ability to concentrate on tasks in the presence of distractions.

Job responsibilities include:

• Enforcing policies and procedures, which ensure efficient and effective operation of pool facilities including personnel management and training.
• Swimming pool operations, including
  • Assist with preparation of work schedules for employees making sure the manager and/or head life guard is on duty at all times the pool is open
  • Maintain staff rotations and staff breaks
  • Report hours, days, & time worked for all employees under his/her direct supervision
  • Handle first aid scenarios
  • Maintain positive public relations at the pool
  • Janitorial duties; pool cleaning, cleaning of bathrooms & concession stand area, limited pool maintenance including daily chemical analysis/testing, & filter cleaning
  • Work with Pool Manager & Recreation Supervisor on coordination of events held at the pool at times other than the regularly scheduled hours (swim lessons, swim team, parties, etc.)
  • Check all gates and doors at closing time
  • Ensure proper operating condition of all equipment
  • Inform Pool Manager and/or Recreation Supervisor when supplies are needed and if equipment needs repaired
  • Other duties as deemed necessary or as required.
• Finance
  • Track pool attendance, balance cash drawer, & bring money to the finance office for deposit daily.
