The work was done through a $75,000 New Jersey Department of Community Affairs  or NJDCA Local Recreation Improvement Grant, according to Newton administrative assistant Kathryn Alcock.

Newton Recreation Coordinater Danielle Finkle selected and ordered the equipment and new signs for the park. The equipment was purchased and installed through Ben Shaffer Recreation, Alcock said.

Newton Department of Public Works’ Adam Vough “and his crew,” installed the new gate, did the paving and mulching of the grounds.

Pine Street Park, called a “hidden gem,” is located in a residential neighborhood off Pine Street and Linmor Avenue. Youth soccer and t-ball games are played there.  Residents can also enjoy the basketball court located in the park.
