'I'm just kind of numb': Neighbor reacts to shooting death of 21-year-old

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating after a gun went off inside of car leaving a 21-year-old dead on Monday evening.
The shooting happened before 8:30 p.m., near Humboldt & Center, on Monday, May 27.
MPD says a passenger was handling the firearm when it discharged and hit the driver.

A 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving measures performed. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner has identified him as Hunter Caleb Nachreiner.
TMJ4's Mary Jo Ola spoke to David Jones who lives on Humboldt. He says he was taking his dogs out when he heard a commotion.
"I could hear "Get him out of the car! Get him out of the car! And that's when I ran out here. At that point there wasn't much anybody else could do," Jones recalled.
Jones says he saw people pull another person out of a parked car. Jones says he started flagging traffic to get them to stop.

"I'm just kind of numb and in shock, to be honest with you," Jones says. "The paramedics, really tried to save his life. They really tried."

Police took a 21-year-old into custody in connection with the shooting. Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. This investigation is ongoing.
