    WILLIAMSTON — The Downtown music series will be from 6 — 9 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

    Trial by Fire, Journey Tribute Band will be playing at the Main Street Community Stage.

    Food truck and drinks will be available on site.

    National Black Bear Festival

    PLYMOUTH — 10th Annual National Black Bear Festival will be held the evening of May 31 and Saturday, June 1.

    There will be over 40 activities.

    Wayne Euliss, Elvis Tribute Artist will be playing at the Main Street Community Stage.

    12th Annual 301 Endless Yard Sale planned

    MULTIPLE COUNTIES — 12th annual 301 Endless Yard sale is planned from 7 a.m. — 5 p.m. on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15.

    Over 100 mile stretch of highway in NC through Halifax, Nash, Wilson, Johnston and Harnett counties.

    Juneteenth Celebration set

    WINDSOR — The Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday June, 15.

    There will be parades, vendors, food, fun, music and more.

    Make Music Bertie County

    WINDSOR — The Bertie County Arts Council will be hosting make music on Friday, June 21.

    This festival is a part of Make Music Day, an international summer solstice music celebration occurring around the world.

    Art Camp set

    WILLIAMSTON — The Martin County 4-H will be hosting an art camp on Monday, July 8.

    The cloverbud session for ages 5-7 will be from 10 a.m. — 12 noon. The junior session for ages 8 — 12 will be from 2 — 4 p.m.

    Registration is required. Contact the Extension office at 252-789-4370 to reserve your child’s spot. The cost is $10.

    July 11

    Teen Chef Camp planned

    WILLIAMSTON — The Martin County 4-H will be hosting a teen chef camp from 2 — 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 11.

    This camp is for children ages 12 — 18. Call 252-789-4370 to register.

    WILLIAMSTON — The Martin County 4-H will be hosting sewing 101 from 9 a.m. — 12 noon on Thursday, July 18.

    The class is for ages 8 and up. The cost will be $10.

    Be a Voice for a Child

    WILLIAMSTON — Become a Guardian ad Litem Program volunteer to help abused and neglected children.

    No specific education or experience is required to volunteer for this program; only a true desire to “be a voice for a child in the community”.

    WINDSOR — East Carolina University Home Health and Hospice is currently searching for volunteers.

    High School Equivalency classes are available both day and night in Williamston, Robersonville and Windsor.

    Funds are available to assist qualified students with the $80 fee for taking the high school equivalency tests (formerly GEDs). All basic skills classes are free.

    WINDSOR — Bertie County Veterans Affairs Officer Denise Clark acts as the local advocate for veterans, to provide information about rights and benefits.

    WILLIAMSTON — The Disabled American Veterans meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month to file claims at the AMVETS Post 227 Building, 214 East Main St. in Williamston.

    There is no charge for this service.

    WILLIAMSTON — Martin Community College’s Small Business Center (SBC) also serves Bertie County.

    GED Testing

    WILLIAMSTON — Martin Community College’s Division of Continuing Education offers online GED testing for all four competency modules: mathematical reasoning, reasoning through language arts, science and social studies.
