    Update: Man Who Was Found Unresponsive in Pool Dies

    Suffolk County police said Wednesday that a man who was found in a pool on May 19 has died.

    Ellery Smith, 45, of Huntington Station was found unresponsive in a pool at a home on West Hills Road. The homeowner found him and notified 911.

    Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday at M.A. Connell Funeral Home.

    A Huntington Station man who was unresponsive was pulled from a pool Sunday afternoon in West Hills.

    Suffolk County police said that they responded to a a 911 call at 367 West Hills Road after an acquaintance of the homeowner was found unresponsive in the water.

    The man, who is 45, was not identified, pending notification of kin. He was taken to Huntington Hospital, where he is in critical condition.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

    The house was the site of a large raid in February 2020 by dozens of agents and police from multiple agencies. Authorities said they recovered a shotgun and ammunition in the search of the home.
