In a tightly contested race for the top spot in Nassau Conference VI softball, Uniondale finds itself second heading into this week’s action with an 8-2 record. Coming off a disappointing five-win season last spring where they finished near the bottom of their conference, this season has been a massive step forward for the Knights, giving them confidence moving forward down the stretch and potentially into the playoffs.

Stony Brook men’s lacrosse’s season ends in Battle of Long Island
The Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team allowed its crosstown rival to play spoiler in its regular season finale. All the Seawolves (4-10, 2-5 CAA) needed to do on Saturday at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium to clinch a berth to the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) championship was to defeat the already-eliminated Hofstra Pride (6-9, 3-4 CAA). Instead, the visitors came out of the 14th edition of the Battle of Long Island as the victors in a wire-to-wire, 11-9 fashion.
Seaford returns to winning ways
Fresh off the program’s first Long Island title since 2005, Seaford softball has quickly turned the page to try and write a new memorable chapter. The Vikings, who captured the historic championship with a 2-1 extra-innings win in the Class B finals against Center Moriches, captured 10 of their first 11 league games in Conference II this spring. Hofstra and Stony Brook are both seeking to break away from the four-way tie for the last remaining spot in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) tournament.
