CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – While the rain may have kept you from spending much time outside Wednesday, there are some positives from the rain we’re getting.

A look at Thursday’s total rainfall totals in western Mass.

The rain we’re getting is helping to make everything nice and green and it does provide some relief for allergy sufferers.

“The rain can help lower the pollen count and allergy count and that’s really just because the rain doesn’t allow the pollen to travel as much, so that helps us out on a rainy day,” said Meteorologist Chris Bouzakis.

Once the rain ends and the sun comes back out, the pollen count will go back up. With drier weather on the way, the tree pollen is expected to be on the high side again starting Friday.
