We are learning details after JPSO fired and arrested a jailer for allegedly stealing more than 80,000 tax payer dollars by falsifying time sheets.

A corrections deputy in Jefferson Parish has a base salary of $36,000 to $40,000 a year, but the sheriff's office says nine year veteran Curtis Lumar falsified his timesheets to get an extra $80,000 in pay for hours he didn't work over six months.

Officials confirm to WWL First News that Lumar allegedly logged 2,000 bogus hours on timesheets between this past July and December.

Lumar was booked into the JPSO jail where he worked and released a short time later on $50,000 bond.
