    Talbot council recognizes several individuals and organizations

    EASTON — On Tuesday evening, the Talbot County Council recognized several individuals and organizations for their work for the county and made proclamations for the Month of May.

    The council unanimously approved the proclamation to make May Older Americans Month to recognize and honor the older people in the community who contribute their strength, wisdom and experience.

    The council unanimously voted to approve the “Stroke Smart Talbot County” proclamation, encouraging the training of all people on how to notice when a stroke is happening.

    Strokes are the leading cause of disability in America, with one in six people having a stroke in their lifetime. Talbot County Schools, both public and private, are encouraged to learn how to catch the signs of a stroke.

    The council unanimously voted to approve a certificate of recognition to Talbot County Department of Corrections Officer of the Year Lt. Tia Slaughter.

    The council unanimously voted to approve a certificate of recognition to Talbot County Department of Corrections Employee of the Year to programs manager Amanda Tondin.
