Sleepy Bernese Mountain Puppy Serves As Spirit Animal for Non-Morning People

Some dogs love to jump out of bed the moment they see the sun beginning to rise. They are ready to start the day and don’t want to waste a single minute of daylight. However, just like people, some would prefer to lounge in bed until noon.

This little Bernese Mountain puppy, in the midst of her teenage stage, is going through a phase where sleep seems more appealing than the outside world. You can almost feel her struggle, with her adorable droopy eyes and her oh-so-tired face.

Check out the video from May 11 to witness this relatable challenge.

I don’t know where pet parents find dogs who enjoy sleeping in, but I’d like mine to try, even if it’s only for a day. For the last 25 years, all of my pups have been ready to go before sunrise. However, I can see the problem of them wanting to avoid going out and doing their business, much like Chevy (@ copperandchevy ) is refusing to do, especially if you need to get going for work.

Even though her sister Copper is ready, Dad can’t get Chevy off the floor. The most she’s willing to do is wag her tail when he inquires, “Do you want to go outside?” And even though she may have picked up her head to see what her sister was doing, it still wasn’t enough to get her moving. Finally, after several minutes of Dad asking nicely, she was inspired enough to go out. LOL! Our dogs do like to make us work for them sometimes.

    Bernese Mountain Dog Energy Levels

This beautiful breed, known for its generally laid-back personality, often has more energy than other giant breeds . Depending on their age, some may require up to an hour of exercise each day to prevent destructive behaviors from occurring. However, as with any dog, their personalities can vary, and some can have boundless amounts of energy until they are fully grown at about three years of age.

Dog parents are familiar with this daily challenge. Viewer @Jack responded, “My Bernese is the same. He’s genuinely happier sleeping in bed than going outside.” Perhaps it’s because their growing bodies need the rest. Viewer @fancypantsbelle remarked, “Boy Berners make judgmental sighs when you try to do that. Ask me how I know.” They can all make those sounds when they want us to know precisely what they think.

Hopefully, Chevy’s dad has a little extra time in the morning to have these lengthy conversations. Otherwise, he’ll have to factor in these pep talks as part of the daily routine.
