CECIL COUNTY — County residents took to the polls on Tuesday for the 2024 President Primary, casting their votes for party candidates in a number of national, state and local races.

After the early voting period ran May 2-9 – with over six percent of registered voters casting their ballots early – and mail-in and provisional ballots to be counted over the next week, votes have been cast in the primary election. However, as of press time, the results of the races have yet to be released.

Cecil County Executive Danielle Hornberger (R) faces Adam Streight (R) in her campaign for a second term, with the winner of the primary race facing Bill Kilby (D) in the November general election.

Two county council seats were on the ballot, as Council President Jackie Gregory runs against Dawn Branch while Sandra Ward challenges Council Vice President Bob Meffley.

Voters were also able to pick their choices for President of the United States and Maryland's seats in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

As votes are counted over the coming days, stay tuned to cecildaily.com for updated election results and coverage.
