Pike County receives no ACGP downtown and destination funding

The only funding Pike County received from the Appalachian Community Grant program was for school based health care facilities.

Scioto Valley Local School District received $1,695,701 for a school-based health clinic. The clinic will operate in 5,500 square stand alone building on the SVLSD grounds.

According to the ACGP website, the grant is geared toward Pike, Scioto, Jackson, Ross and Adams Counties.

Health and wellness services and social services programming will be available to students as well as staff, family members, and caregivers.

Waverly City Schools along with a laundry list of other districts from Ross, Highland and Jackson County were awarded a combined $232,965 for extended services from Adena Health’s mobile health unit.

The Adena mobile unit is equipped with the necessary equipment for both primary care and dental services, removing barriers to care and fostering a proactive approach to healthcare. A full-time nurse practitioner, one driver/registrar combined role, and one full-time community health worker will be added to the mobile program.

Additionally, shore plugs will be installed at each district partner, including existing mobile health district partners, to extend the life of the mobile health unit to ensure sustainable operations well into the future.

What maybe more telling is Pike County didn’t receive. There was no revitalization or destination funding for any projects in Pike County, under the downtown and destination initiative.

Ross County received funding for four such projects as did Highland County. Jackson County had three downtown and destination initiatives funded. Adams County had one revitalization and destination project funded as well as a waterfront initiative. Scioto County also had a waterfront initiative funded.

The final $51.8 million that was announced Thursday focused on the northeastern Ohio counties of the Appalachian region.
