ELM GROVE, W.Va. (WTRF) – The Veterans of Foreign Wars in the State of West Virginia honored the 2024 National Law Enforcement Award recipient, Andrew Weisal, a Sheriff’s Deputy from the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office.

This award is given to an officer who maintains a record of exemplary service to the community and is nominated by their peers.

Andy Weisal is a generational member of the VFW for his desert storm deployment, and his deployment in Afghanistan with the Army National Guard in 2010.

He was given the award by National Council Member Vernon Anderson.

”I was honored when they first put me in for the award, especially being a member here of the VFW. I didn’t even expect to win. I honestly… I feel that I don’t deserve it because I’m just doing my job, but evidently other people think that I do, and I appreciate it.”
