    Blount County shooting victim hospitalized, suspect arrested

    LOUISVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One man has been hospitalized and another has been arrested following a shooting early Wednesday in Blount County .

    The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after deputies responded to a reported shooting at a residence on Samples Road around 10 a.m. on May 8. A 63-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound was found outside the residence and taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

    Sheriff James Lee Berrong said the victim is in critical condition.

    Deputies and officers with the Alcoa Police Department located the suspect and took him into custody. Benjamin Absher, 29, of Louisville, was charged with attempted criminal homicide and is being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility on a $200,000 bond.
