BOYNE FALLS — Economic development experts, government officials and community members from across Northern Michigan will gather at Boyne Mountain on Friday, May 17 to take part in the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance's annual symposium.
This year, the symposium is designed to explore the theme of innovation. Building upon Northern Michigan's legacy of innovation across various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, health care, outdoor recreation and tourism, the event will ask: How can businesses and communities cultivate innovation for sustained success?
"We are thrilled to host the 2024 Northern Lakes Economic Symposium and Showcase, providing a platform for collaboration and dialogue aimed at driving innovation and economic growth in our region," said NLEA President Payton Heins. “NLEA is celebrating our 40th anniversary, so it’s a special event. Together, we will explore innovative solutions to propel Northern Michigan's economy forward and ensure a prosperous future for generations to come."
The day will feature guest speakers and breakout sessions tailored to address the region's economic challenges and opportunities. The keynote speakers will be Brian Britton, president and Chief Executive Officer of Kilwins Chocolates Franchise, and Jake Manthei, president of Aster Brands.
