By Parker Cox - 25 News Now,
What we're tracking: High temperatures in the low 100s are possible tomorrow and Thursday for the western half of the Crossroads with Dewitt, Goliad, Karnes, and Bee counties being at the highest risk for reaching 100 degrees. Lavaca and Gonzales counties as well as western parts of Victoria county are also possibly at risk for 100, but much less likely. With high humidity today, heat indices may surpass 100 degrees for nearly all of the Crossroads. Good news is heat relief arrives Thursday night in the form of a cool front with a very slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm developing ahead of the front. Highs drop back to the mid 80s for the weekend with a windy day on Friday after the front. Scattered thunderstorms are looking more likely on Mother's Day proceeding into Monday as well.
Next 24 hours: Warm-hot temps arrive today and the next couple days with highs ranging from the low 90s to the low 100s. Heat indices (feels like temperatures) will surpass 100 today for most of the Crossroads with high humidity in place. Mostly cloudy skies this morning will decrease to mostly sunny in the afternoon heating highs to he low 90s today. Mostly cloudy skies again tonight will keep the heat on top of us with lows in the mid-upper 70s. Partly cloudy skies and a breezy south wind bring tomorrow's highs to the low-mid 90s in Victoria with some western counties reaching the 100s.
Extended forecast: The heat continues before the front. We have nicer weather after the front with highs in the 80s after departing the 90s and 100s. Showers and thunderstorms look likely for Mother's Day and the next Monday. See below for more details in your 7 day extended forecast!
