FOX23 speaks to several counties on whether their tornado sirens are prepared for severe weather

Some counties across Oklahoma have had issues with their tornado sirens.

FOX23 spoke over the phone with Tulsa, Wagoner, Okmulgee and Washington Counties about whether their sirens are ready for upcoming severe weather.

Tulsa County has 106 total sirens, the county with the most sirens in Green Country.

Only two of those4 sirens had reported issues in the last month, both determined to be a battery issue and have been fixed.

FOX23 went to Collinsville in after the City said lightning struck one of their sirens. Collinsville Fire Chief Harold Call said they tested all the sirens and six out of their seven work, they're waiting on parts to fix the one that's down.

Collinsville is looking to budget in another siren in the future. The Call said phones are becoming a more reliable way of being alerted. He said people can't hear the sirens as well from the inside of most homes due to insulation.

FOX23 also spoke with Okmulgee County which had a tornado in Morris last week . Okmulgee County has 12 sirens. In Morris there are three and only one works.

In Wagoner County, there's a total of 26 sirens, twelve are in Wagoner which saw a tornado last week.

They said all sirens work just fine.

Washington County has 50 siren, 32 of which are in Bartlesville. They told us they had several technical failures in April during a test, but they were all fixed the day of testing. They will test all of their sirens again next Monday. The County said they are also on working on obtaining federal grant money to build more sirens, but also recommend downloading a weather app to get alerts from your phone.
